A 56 year old man has been left in a critical condition following a shooting incident at Nkonya Kpodzi, a suburb of the Biakoye district in the Volta region.
Police believe the victim was ambushed.
Chief Superintendent Joseph Antonio Gyewu, the Hohoe divisional police commander said their investigations show the victim was shot on his way to the farm.
According to him the victim was shot in the shin and his thigh. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
He said the police have begun patrolling the area and are investigating the matter.
The area where the incident happened has been a hotbed of ethnic violence between the people of Nkonya and their counterparts in Alavanyo.
Scores of lives have been lost and properties destroyed in the protracted violence.
It is not clear yet if this shooting incident has any links to the ethnic violence.
