Often when you think of a carnival or a jamboree, several things come to mind - music, dancing and lots of singing and shouting, and of course, fancy and colourful outfits!Of course when political party members, clad in their colours, come together to rally support for one of their own facing a trial or who is facing arrest, it also turns out to be a carnival of some sorts. The police are not having any of that at the premises of the Supreme Court where the case of Ghana’s disputed elections is being heard. They are warning political party members not to troop to the court premises if they have no business to do there.Their warning comes on the back of criticisms of the heavy police presence at the court.Accra Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Freeman Tetteh says they are not leaving anything to chance. He said the action of the police is to “secure the entire Supreme Court premises as well as provide adequate security for any person who is authorized to be there or who has business in any form at the court.”DSP Tettey said the presence of the police prevented the outbreak of violence at the premises of the court.
