A policeman was injured Tuesday morning after angry residents stoned him at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region.
The police and residents clashed after they attempted to retrieve the body of a little girl who was murdered in the area today.
The irate residents wielding machetes and sticks were protesting the alleged ritual killings of four people in the area.
Joy News’ Kwetey Nartey who has been following the development reports that a mentally unstable man was killed two weeks ago and later found in the bush with his eyes and other parts missing.
A security man was also clubbed to death by some assailants while he guarded a shop in the area.
He survived the attack but past away this morning at the hospital.
The latest case that has sparked the clashes in the area is the death of a little girl who was sent to the stream to fetch water but was found dead later.
The police went to the area to retrieve the body of the little girl but residents refused allow the police.
Several attempts to reach the regional commander of police for further information about the incident have not been successful.
Joy News has however been informed that some suspects have been apprehended and sent to the chief’s palace.
