A labour consultant, Austin Gamey has blamed the country’s slow pace of economic growth on the poor management of conflicts in the work place.
He argues that because employers of both private and public institutions have failed to settle disputes between them and their workers, productivity is not rising to expected levels.
Mr. Gamey who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Gamey & Gamey Academy of Mediation told participants at an executive diploma programme in mediation and arbitration studies that the uncontrolled labour unrests resulted in much economic loss to the country.
He said poorly managed disputes could lead to wasted time, higher turnover, law suits, destruction, loss of lives and lower productivity.
