The Minority in parliament is demanding immediate arrest of landing beach committee members said to have signed for delivery of premix fuel but cannot be traced. 

The legislators believe the committee members have a role to play in the diversion of the premix fuel which has cost the nation over 22 million cedis. 

At least 200 cases of premix fuel diversions have been cited by the National Petroleum Authority, since January 2017. 

The Ministry of Energy, in May 2017, subsequently ordered the Fisheries Ministry to probe the companies alleged to be complicit in the fuel diversion. 

But as at November 2017, companies cited for the diversion of fuel were still operating, and no investigation had been conducted. 

The minority is accusing government of cover up and wants those who signed for the product to be arrested. 

The ranking member on the Mines and Energy committee of Parliament Adam Mutawakilu says the Fisheries and Energy ministries must equally be held responsible for the diversion.

“We are disappointed as Minority because we can see government doing some cover up for its boys.

He said there was clear evidence by members of landing beach members who have signed forms indicating they have received the product but when you go on the ground it is not delivered.

“If we pick these people then bottom up, they will tell you who instructed them to do that, then we will get to the big fishes who are the main architects of this deal.

“We are losing almost 22 million cedis and that is huge,” he stated, adding members of the premix committee must be arrested as the first point of the investigation.

“If we are left on the hook and think what they is not criminal, how can you deter others?” he asked.
