Fishermen in the Greater Accra and Central Regions are still grappling with inadequate supply of premix fuel.
The fishermen say the quantity of premix fuel they receive is woefully inadequate two weeks after the government promised to make the essential commodity available to them.
Last week government gave assurances that measures had been put in place to forestall the shortage of the product.
The fishermen had complained bitterly about the shortage saying this was the fishing season and that they would not be able to repay their loans if the situation persisted.
In response to their concerns the government announced efforts were underway to rectify the situation.
But the Executive Secretary of the National Canoe Fishermen Association, Nii Abio told Joy News the government’s proposals to address to issues have not been properly handled.
He said the implementation of the measures of the government had not met the expectations of the people.
Nii Abio said reports he received from the Central and Western Regions indicated that people other than fishermen were receiving the premix fuel.
Richard Kojo Nyarko reports from the Central Region that fishermen trek from shore to the other in search of premix fuel.
But the Chairman of the National Premix fuel Committee, Kawku Nichol blamed the situation on what he calls panic buying.
He contends enough of premix fuel had been put on the market.
