The Campaign team of President John Dramani Mahama has indicated the president will participate in the 2nd IEA Presidential debate only after the period declared for mourning the late Aliu Mahama.
Sources close to the team said even though the President was fully prepared for the last round of debate scheduled for Tuesday, November 20, 2012, he would rather the event was postponed until after the five days of mourning he declared for the late former vice-president who died Friday November 16, 2012.
The president's position, according sources, has been communicated to the organisers of the event, the Institute for Economic Affairs.
The Administrator of the IEA, Mrs Jeane Mensah had told Joy FM's Super Morning Show Monday morning that the debate would come off as planned because the candidates had indicated their willingness to participate, especially because the event would be dedicated to the memory of the late Aliu Mahama.
