President John Evans Atta Mills has called on the security agencies to investigate rumours making rounds that he intends to spend 90 million Ghana Cedis to fund his campaign for the upcoming July congress in Sunyani.
President Mills in an exclusive interview with Asempa FM’s Nana Kwabena Bobbie Ansah at the Castle on Wednesday said it was very sad for someone to level that allegation against him because he fair and will never use such a huge sum of money to fund his campaign which he is optimistic of winning.
On Tuesday, staunch supporter of the Rawlingses, Herbert Mensah alleged on Adom FM's morning show, Dwaso Nsem that he had a security tape in which government officials have earmarked an amount of 90 million Ghana cedis to execute President Mills' second term.
But President Mills said, he was very sad when he heard that falsehood from the camp of one of his contenders; Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, and urged the public to dismiss it.
According to him, his wish is to get money to complete the Accra-Achimota- Nsawam road and the Sofoline road in Kumsi, saying he would use that money for those projects if he had that sum of money at his disposal.
