Cocoa farmers across Ghana are set to benefit from a new housing initiative aimed at improving their living conditions. Real estate developer, Priority View Homes has cut sod for the construction of affordable two- and three-bedroom houses at Gomoa Dahom in the Gomoa Central District of the Central region for the project
The GH¢420 million project is designed to provide decent homes for cocoa farmers, with flexible payment plans ranging from 5 to 15 years. The initiative seeks to support farmers who have long contributed to Ghana’s economy through cocoa production but often faced with challenges in securing decent accommodation.

Speaking to Joy News after the sod-cutting ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Priority View Homes, Eric Affaidu, said the project will not only transform the lives of cocoa farmers but also serve as motivation for them to increase production.
According to him, “you see cocoa production coming down. Ghana used to be leading, but now they are not. We went into it and realized that they need more than just fertilizer or giving them chemicals to work with. We also realized that something should inspire them. We also realized that most cocoa farmers, about 50% to 56% of are living in thatch houses, so we decided to present housing schemes for cocoa farmers to make sure that if you are a cocoa farmer, you have a house that you can call a home.”

The Chief of Gomoa Dahom, Nana Kwa-Pra Ababio VII, commended Priority View Homes for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention to support farmers who form the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
“I am very excited that this town is about to undergo a transformation, just like Accra. I assure everyone in the town that, to ensure the right people are involved, I have set up a committee to verify that every participant is indeed a cocoa farmer,” he said.

Construction works are expected to begin immediately, with the first set of houses scheduled for completion in phases.
