The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), led by its Administrator, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has donated medical equipment and consumables worth more than GH¢4 million to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to mark its first anniversary.
The donation includes a fully equipped Olympus endoscopy tower, jaundice meters, and respiratory, oxygen therapy and anaesthesia consumables, in a move expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised healthcare services.
KATH Chief Executive Officer, Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, said the intervention had come at a crucial time, particularly as the hospital’s existing endoscopy machine had been in use for more than 10 years.

He said the support would significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver quality care to patients.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund is also supporting the construction of a cardiac intervention centre at KATH, marking the first time in the hospital’s 70-year history that such a facility is being established.

Dr Baidoo said the scale of the Fund’s intervention within its first year was remarkable, noting that “Your impact within just a year feels like you have been here forever.”
