Edward Nti-Berko, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on private entrepreneurs to declare their correct incomes for assessment and pay the appropriate tax to revenue agencies.
Mr Nti-Berko made the call when answering questions at a tax education programme organised by the NCCE for Welfare officers of Ashanti New Town Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Kumasi.
He said it was essential people honoured their tax obligations not only as a civic responsibility but also to support Government in its efforts to accelerate socio-economic development in the country.
The Metropolitan Director of NCCE said "as responsible citizens and Christians, it behoves us to work hard to support church activities and contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of society."
Bright Opoku-Akomeah, a Revenue Supervisor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) stressed the need for people to honour their tax responsibilities and register their businesses to help broaden the economic base of the country.
