Private security firms in the country have been entreated to uphold and defend the integrity of their work to enable them effectively complement the work of the police.
DCOP Rev. David Ampah Bennin, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, said integrity is key in providing security.
DCOP Bennin made the call when addressed a durbar of management and staff of Edern Security Services in Achimota Accra.
The durbar, held on May Day, was to celebrate the hardworking staff of the company who for years have contributed to make Edern a preferred private security company in the country.
The event had members of the company’s board in attendance as well as some distinguished personalities from the Ghana Police Service, and core administrative staff of the company.
Awards were given to deserving workers, who put up an exceptional show of dedication to work during the year under review.
Certificates were also given to participants of a specially-organized Counter Terrorism training programme put together by the company late last year.
The overall best worker award went to John Hagan, a driver with the company. A special citation accompanying his award praised his valour to the company’s growth. An elated Hagan said “this will go a long way to encourage my other colleagues.”
All award winners received plaques and cash.

Managing Director of Edern Security Services, Paul Quartey, underscored the importance of the durbar, adding the company values the contribution of its staff towards its continuous growth.
Edern he said will continue to be the leader in the private security business in Ghana.
