Ex-Ghana captain Emmanuel Quarshie has developed early stages of Parkinson’s disease, a shock medical report in Egypt has been revealed to MTNFootball.com.The former Zamalek player arrived in Cairo on Tuesday, at the invitation of the club's president Mamdouh Abass, to undergo treatment for what he thought was lung cancer.But doctors have in the Egyptian capital have revealed that the former national star’s ailment is far from what was originally thought to be affecting him.He underwent tests at a Cairo hospital on Wednesday which revealed the severity of his illness but doctors in one of the top hospitals in Egypt say they will offer him effective treatment."Quarshie showed the early signs of Parkinson's disease and not lung cancer,” a top Zamalek official told MTNFootball.com on condition of anonymity."The doctors say it is possible for him to respond to treatment in the coming days, which will make him recover from the illness."Quarshie was living in Ghana thinking he was suffering from lung cancer until Zamalek arrived in the country to play Berekum Chelsea in the Champions League.Zamalek chief Abass worried over the plight of the player, who helped them to win several titles including the Champions League, paid for the midfielder to travel to Egypt for effective treatment.Quarshie was the captain of Ghana's national team that won their last Nations Cup title in 1982.
