The queenmother of Koforidua-Ada in the New Juaben municipality, Nana Ama Amponsah died Saturday after she was knocked down by a motorbike.
The incident occurred at Ada-Koforidua when she was going to the Eastern Regional Hospital for medical care last Thursday.
Nana Amponsah, a mother of four, was crossing the road to board a taxi which had stopped for her when she got knocked down by the speeding motorbike.
The rider is said to have refused to heed to signals to stop when other vehicles had pulled up for the queenmother to cross the road.
An Asembly Member for Ada-Koforidua, Richard Okyere told the Daily Graphic that Nana Amponsah was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was admitted.
“Unfortunately, she passed away at dawn on Saturday,” he stated.
Mr Okyere said her body has been deposited at the morgue, pending autopsy.
The late queenmother returned Ghana not long after spending some time with his son in London. She reigned for 32-years.
