The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Mrs Rachael Nana Adjoa Apoh Opoku has appealed to supporters of the political parties to desist from insulting their opponents in pursuit of their parochial interests.
She said insulting opponents especially adults, is an affront to Ghanaian values.
The MP, who is also former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, made the appeal when she addressed Akwambo festival celebrations at Gomoa Aboso and Gomoa Abaasa in the Gomoa East District.
She called on the supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to let decorum be their watchword by according respect to President John Dramani Mahama, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, NPP Presidential Candidate and other high ranking members of other parties to ensure peace and stability in the political arena
Mrs Opoku said the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary campaign should be run devoid of insults or character assassination in order to promote the national democratic dispensation.
She asked the NPP to offer constructive criticism to the government.
The Gomoa Central MP said Government is doing everything possible to reverse the economic problems confronting Ghanaians.
Mrs Opoku presented 20 bags of cement and GH₵200.00 to the people of Abaasa to support their developmental projects.
She said one of the Presidential Free Senior High School structure is being constructed at Gomoa Gyaman and would be completed by the end of September.
Mr Yaw Alhasan, Gomoa Abaasa Unit Committee Chairman who received the cement on behalf of the people thanked the MP for the kind gesture.
