A man in his mid-twenties is reported to have committed suicide in a police cell in Ketu-North District in the Volta Region.
The suspect, Mawuli Fiankor was in police custody for allegedly raping several women in the area.
Most of the victims are said to have been raped on their farms.
The suspect is said to be masked and on few occasions put pepper in the eyes of his victims before raping them.
According to Richard Semabia, the assemblyman for Devego Electoral Area in the District, Mawuli Fiankor was arrested after the latest attack on the Fulani woman.
He was sent to the police station only to be told he had committed suicide using the bed sheet in the cells.
Police in the Ketu North District have confirmed the incident to Joy News but declined to go on record.
