Former President Jerry John Rawlings has commended the youth for "showing a true spirit of determination required to accomplish the change to achieve true social and economic justice."
In a statement from his office signed by Dr K. Caesar, the former President said the youth showed this spirit despite "deliberate and calculated attempts" to frustrate them.
"Despite the challenges of having to stay in long queues for days or hours on end with little or no food, and enduring the intimidation and deliberate obstacles placed in your way, you have shown the strength of determination needed to bring about true social and economic justice in this country and the suffering people of this country," former President Rawlings said.
"The suffering people of this country salute you and encourage you to stay strong and bold for the fight ahead," he added.
