Mrs Naana Abudu, District Director of Education for Ahafo-Ano North, has called on religious organisations to spearhead the crusade against indiscipline in the country.
The Director who was speaking at this year's Regional Children's Day celebration at Tepa in the Ashanti Region stressed the need for faith-based organizations to encourage the youth to shun indiscipline and be imbued with the values of honesty, integrity, hard work and patriotism to guarantee their future.
The Day had the theme, "Ghana @ 50 Children and Future".
Mrs Abudu enumerated interventions so far made by government in the educational sector to give hope to Ghanaian children in future.
"It includes the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme and the New Education Reforms among others".
Mr Andy Boye-Agyemang, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Ghana National Commission on Children (GNCC) urged children to do away with pre-marital sex, alcoholism, smoking, occultism and gambling, and instead concentrate on their studies.
Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano-South urged children to take advantage of the various opportunities offered them to enable them grow into responsible adults.
