The search and rescue team working at the site of the collapsed six-storey building at Nii Boi Town, a suburb of Accra, has officially ended its rescue effort.
The team, led by the Ghana National Fire service begun the exercise on Thursday, after an uncompleted six-storey building collapsed killing one person and injuring another.
Speaking to JOYNEWS, head of the rescue team, Assistant Divisional officer, Joseph Mensah said there are no victims in the rubble.
According to him, though the operation was very hectic, it has given them the opportunity to prove to Ghanaians that they are up to the task.
“We are not praying for such an incident but when it happens, we will give off our best”, he indicated.
Meanwhile, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has interdicted three building inspectors, who work at the Okaikoi North Sub-metro of the Assembly for six month without pay, after the incident occurred.
The three according to the AMA are liable for acts of negligence since they failed to follow proper procedure in their monitoring activities, the Assembly noted.
