Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwasi Pratt Jnr. has urged reshuffled Ministers of State to curb their spending on unnecessary items that cost the state.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam programme he lamented over actions that drain the country’s coffers due to the relentless trivia nature of some government appointees. Some Ministries, he said, go to the extent of refurbishing their offices to suit their personal taste.

His comment follows the latest reshuffling by President John Mahama.

For instance, former Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Aquinas Quansah has been nominated as the Minister for Central Region. Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe is going to the Health Ministry as a Deputy Minister; Mona Quartey would deputize at Ministry of Finance.

This wind of change at times affects, albeit unnecessary, office and building equipment such as furniture and computers.

“Mostly, furniture is not changed just like that, but people change it often, even the computers,” he complained.

“Renovation, renovation, change of furniture let’s cut it,” he added.
