The Grace Baptist Church at Amakom, Kumasi, has inducted Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu as the first female Head Pastor.
She succeeds the late Rev. George Owusu Mensah, who was due for retirement until his demise.
The induction service brought together Baptist ministers, members of the clergy, traditional leaders and people who share in the faith.
Guest Preacher, Rev. Dr. Samuel Otu Pimpong, said Grace Baptist Church, Amakom, has made history by inducting its first female as Head Pastor.
"Women should be given recognition, and on the national level, there is a woman Vice President, and women are holding high positions in various institutions, and it's proper," he said.

According to him, it's about time women are recognised and given leadership roles to deliver.
"The women who become leaders respect their husbands and are humble at home. I don't see why people fear empowering women," he said.
Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu has been in service at the Grace Baptist Church for over 19 years before rising to the senior pastor role.
Over the period, she has been supportive in the Church's pursuit of developmental projects under its holistic ministry of preaching and teaching the word of God, counseling and attending to the physical needs of the church and community.
Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu, speaking to the congregation, assured of continuing the good works of her predecessors to uplift the church to a higher standard.

She urged sister churches to offer women opportunities to lead and to rid themselves of negative mindsets about women.
"The God we are serving is sovereign, and he is not selective in his works," she said.
Rev. Mary Fosu said those who are still working rigidly with traditions should understand that society is dynamic.
"As long as the person makes herself available for God to use her, we should offer them the opportunity," she admonished. "There was a saying that when you educate a man, you educate an individual, but when you educate a woman, you educate a nation."
She believes that when a woman leads, she leads with passion and transforms lives.
The Grace Baptist Church, Amakom, is a leading member of the Ghana Baptist Convention.
