A suspected armed robber died last night after falling off from a moving taxi which ran into a ditch in a robbery attack at Adiembra in Kumasi.
Both the deceased and the taxi driver are believed to be gang members who attempted to rob a couple that had boarded the vehicle.
Eye witnesses told Luv FM one of the robbers pointed a gun at the male passenger when the driver stopped at a junction apparently to pick another accomplice.
A struggle ensued between the couple and the robbers, which drew attention from onlookers. In an attempt to speed off, the vehicle landed in a ditch after hitting a high–tension electricity pylon.
The deceased, who was trying to join his colleagues in the vehicle fell and died instantly.
Asokwa District Police Commander Supt Emmanuel Akunnor has confirmed the incident to Luv News. According to him, a search is on for the two other suspects who managed to escape.
