The Reform Patriotic Democrat (RPD) is demanding its share of reward in government after backing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in opposition to win power.
The NDC in the heat of the 2008 election run-off pledged to offer ministerial positions and other mouth-watering positions to minority parties who would support it.
Having won the election and still in the process of forming its governments, the leader of RPD, Mr. Kwabena Adjei said its time for the NDC to fulfill its promises.
Mr. Adjei had earlier expressed his desire to be named the Ashanti Regional Minister, but that slipped through his fingers following the appointment of Mr. Kofi Poku Manu to occupy the position.
Mr. Adjei told Joy News; “None of us have been a minister or have been in government before,” adding it is an opportunity to gain the experience and to serve the country.
Meanwhile, Leader of the United Renaissance Party, Kofi Wayo has vehemently dismissed suggestions he is lobbying for a posit in government.
According to him, he campaigned vigorously in the hinterlands to bring the NDC back to power, but his only interest is to see the country move forward.
The People’s National Congress (PNC) has benefited from its subtle electoral alliance with the NDC.
Hajia Hajira, National Womens Organiser for the PNC was appointed to be part of the Council of State, and Alhaji Alhassan Azong also offered a ministerial position at the presidency.
The party leadership publicly announced its neutrality ahead of the election run-off, but did not stop individuals and sections of the party to declare support for the NDC.
