The Parliamentary candidate of the CPP for the Jomoro Constituency, Samia Nkrumah, has denied campaigning for the NPP flag-bearer.She said the Statesman story of October 16, 2008 claiming that she was campaigning for Nana Akufo-Addo was false and baseless.“The Samia Campaign Team and the Executive Committee of the CPP in the Western Region wish to make known our strong indignation to the false impression created by a publication claiming that Samia was campaigning for the flag-bearer of the NPP.”The denial was contained in a press released issued by the Samia campaign team and signed by its manager, Mr. Peter Enderson in reaction to a story by the Statesman suggesting Samia had endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo, flag-bearer of the NPP.It said “not only is this impression erroneous, it is also mischievous and ill motivated meant to create animosity within the rank and file of the CPP.”The statement said Samia was an adherent of party discipline of the CPP adding that “her respect for the supremacy of the party made her insist on having primaries even when some members of the constituency demanded that she be declared candidate unopposed when there were other contenders for the Parliamentary slot on the ticket of the CPP.”“If there are any persons who think that by spewing such unstable and frivolous propaganda, the teaming support of the CPP will reduce in Jomoro, then they should be leaving in their own world of conjecturing.”According to the statement Ms Samia and the CPP remain resolute in winning the Jomoro seat which is traditionally belongs to them. There is therefore no need for her to show loyalty any person or political party.Story by Malik Abass Daabu
