Premier league side Medeama SC have promoted assistant coach Ibrahim Shaibu Tanko to the position of head coach following the departure of coach Bashir Hayford to AshantiGold.
The former Hearts of Oak deputy trainer joined Medeama last year on a three-year deal as an assistant to head Coach Bashir Hayford.
"Coach Tanko is already familiar with the players so management thought it wise to promote him to the post of a head coach," Albert Commey, Executive Vice President of the club told JOY Sports
''We considered competence, familiarity with the players and continuity because we don’t want to have problems with the players and also the philosophy of the coach.''
"We also realize that we are in the mid season and the other half is equally important so we don’t want to start all over.
Tanko will be assisted by coach Evans Adotey.
The Tarkwa based side finished the first round of the league as leaders and will travel to Tema Youth when the Ghana Premier League resumes on Sunday.
