The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has warned Senior High Schools (SHS) in the three northern regions would be closed down if government does not release their feeding grants by Friday.
President of CHASS, Samuel Ofosi-Adjei, said schools in the northern part of the Volta and Brong Ahafo Regions may also be closed down if feeding grants are not paid soon.
He disclosed that last week, the Regional Chairmen of CHASS discussed the issue at an executive meeting where they said without the feeding grants, it would be difficult to run the schools.
"The heads (of SHS) have tried everything possible, they have improvised, they have done everything possible...there is an end to everything", said the CHASS President.
The headmaster of the Tamale Senior High School has also confirmed to Joy News he will close down the school by Friday because he has not been able to pay suppliers for months. He said the school has run out of food stock.
Mr Samuel Ofosi-Adjei said the only way out of the Friday deadline for closure of SHS in the three regions of the north and parts of the Volta and Brong Ahafo Region is for government, through the Scholarship Secretariat to release the needed funds immediately.
