Barely a day after a Ghanaian scientist predicted that the world would be coming to an end on December 20, 2012, another has rubbished it saying “t is a scam.”
Mr. Joris Wattenberg told Joy Fm's Matilda Asante on Tuesday’s edition of the Midday news that the world on December 20 2012, will no longer be a safe place to live.
“A lot of people will be dead. The whole of Northern Hemisphere will be submerged by the seas and the Southern Hemisphere will be dogged with series of earthquakes. All mountains will be flattened and the earth will be split apart.”
But a geographic sensing expert Dr. Mamu Okyere says that is not true.
“There is a scam going on with the date 2012.” he confirmed
On Joy Fm’s news night Dr. Okyere told Evans Mensah that on December 21, 2012 two events will happen simultaneously but will not spell doom for the world.
“On December 21 there will be winter solstice- a situation where the sun crosses the Capricorn”
“The second event will be the crossing of the galactic equator, the division of the galaxy (misty arch of stars in the night sky) into two.”
Referring to Wattenbergs earlier predictions as alarmist, Dr. Okyere contends the two events will be a delightful sight for the people in America, adding it will just be a normal day for Ghana.
Even though he could not predict the end of the world, Dr. Okyere believes other scientist can calculate and know when the world would be coming to an end.
Meanwhile, religious leader Reverend Gabriel Ansah has challenged the two perspectives saying “the world will eventually come to an end but no one can predict except God.”
