The apparent scramble for the top job at the National Sports Authority (NSA) has gathered speed with three new names popping up in the latest twist to the unending chess game at play.
Graphic Sports has gathered from insiders that Lt Col. Maxwell Bediako of the Ghana Olympic Committee and Grp Capt. Arko Dadzie, president of the Ghana Chess Association, have been proposed by some powerful personalities in Ghana sports for consideration for the post.
A third choice, Emmanuel Gidisu Tetteh, a senior officer at CEPS division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and president of the Ghana Judo Association, seems to be the leading candidate now.
The three new names have replaced the previous candidates comprtising former Black Stars player, Anthony Baffoe, and the controversy-strewn legal practitioner, Sarfo Abebrese, one of whom was earlier tipped to assume the post.
Significantly, lobbyists have looked beyond the confines of the NSA itself from whose outfit the pair of current acting Director General, Alice Attipoe, and her deputy in charge of technical matters, Erasmus Adorkor, rank as biggest candidates for the post.
Significantly, all the new names have come from the midst of the security services where most of the previous helmsmen at the NSA have come from.
Madam Attipoe was chief adminstrative officer under the previous structure, the equivalent of deputy director general in charge of administration and finance, before assuming the vacant post in an acting capacity.
It is unclear whether Lt Col. Bediako, the representative of the security services on the GOC, Grp Capt. Dadzie or Mr Tetteh will eventually accept the post.
