Royal Dutch Shell says it is yet to settle on a buyer for its Africa operations. The company however says a number of companies have so far expressed interest in taking over its operations. The company has been reacting to media reports that it has settled on Libya Oil as a possible suitor for its Africa unit. In a statement responding to Joy Business enquiries, Shell’s Vice President in charge of Communications for Africa, Phaldie Kalam also indicated that worker’s fears of losing their jobs are premature because all the companies that have expressed interest so far are committed to retaining the workers as well. Shell formally announced its intention to dispose of its assets in 21 African countries including Ghana in April. Even though a number of African governments have indicated they will want to take over the local operations in their respective countries, the company has insisted on selling en bloc.
