I heard the most beautiful story recently about this couple whom I deemed to be pretty romantic in their relationship.
You know, the husband actually calls in to check on her quiet often during the day, they go for vacations at least twice a year as a priority, the wife cooks all these exotic dishes for him regularly, I mean they are really nice to each other.
One tradition they hold dearly is exchange of presents (usually expensive gifts) during anniversaries which they practice religiously for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, mother’s/father’s day, etc.
And so in my usual hopelessly romantic mode, I asked my friend (the woman) what she got this year for their wedding anniversary expecting something like a surprise trip to Sao Tome or something along that line. Instead, she said she got a letter from him! I tell you, my smile was as wide as the Atlantic ocean when she told me the contents.
To sum it up, he thanked her for sticking with her through the hard times, assuring her of his continuous love and promising her he will make it up to her in future. My friend told me 'his words felt like diamonds to me'! In fact, of all the romantic things I have seen this man do to woe his wife, this certainly tops them all.
A simple letter to his beloved assuring her of his undying love and appreciating her, in my mind I already crowned him one of the most romantic men on earth for this alone.
I wonder why sometimes we refuse to be romantic with excuses such as 'I don't have money', 'I am too busy' etc. Some of the most romantic stories I have heard involved no money, just creativity, thoughtfulness and good old sweetness.
So Fabulous Woman, next time you are planning a romantic do for your sweetheart, don’t worry too much if the times are hard in your pocket. Just be creative, thoughtful and sweet in your delivery…the effect will be fabulous!
