Contractors at the Sofoline project in Kumasi have now constructed barricades warning passers-by of a deep trench at the project site.
This comes hours after three children drowned in a trench at the project site Saturday.
Three officials of China GEO Engineering were arrested in relation with the death of the children but were later granted bail.
It is not clear what charges were proffered against them and the line action to be taken against them.
Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawia reported, Monday, some angry youth have besieged the project site removing the barricades erected.
They do not understand why contractors will belatedly erect the barricades after the trench claimed three lives.
A distraught sister of Osei Sakyi-Richmond, one of the deceased persons, told Ohemeng Tawiah, the now barricaded portion of the construction site was a place they routinely used when they are going to the market.
She explained if those warning signs had been put there, her younger brother would not have died because he was intelligent enough to know dangerous places so described.
According to Ohemeng Tawiah a delegation led by the Ashanti Regional Minister and the mayor are expected to visit the bereaved families, later Monday.
