Contractors working on the Sofoline interchange project in Kumasi, China GEO- Engineering Corporation have backed down on their earlier decision to stop work on the project. This followed meetings with government officials. Yesterday, workers of the company stopped working in a bid to compel government to review the contract fee. Government responded and called for a series of meetings with the Company to iron out issues regarding the review of their contract rates. Local Union Chairman, Rudolf Asoala welcomed the efforts by government officials to meet with officials of the company to resolve the issue. "Yesterday they said they were going to give us letters( to relieve some of the workers). The work has been slowed down so they can't maintain the workers. Those who are on probation will go and the permanent will stay but this morning I learnt they are not bringing any letters out now. We should wait".
