The Ghana Armed Forces has warned military personnel against hiring themselves out to private individuals, agency, company or organisations for unauthorised operations.
It noted that some military personnel are enticed to perform services such as land guard duties, protection for self-installed chiefs involved in chieftaincy disputes, debt collection and others.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate of the GAF warned that those involved in such acts would be dismissed.
It said that "not only does the conduct of the soldiers throw their careers into jeopardy, but their actions cast a slur on the image of the Ghana Armed Forces."
The statement also warned that "Civilians who have been soliciting unauthorised Military assistance from service personnel for their parochial and personal interests are doing so at their known risk as it is an offence to do so.
"Members of the public who refuse to heed this advice when apprehended, would be dealt with together with the defaulting military personnel according to the laws of the land," it said.
