With barely four days to the National Delegates Conference of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern regional capital, Tamale, an aspiring National Chairman is calling for a fasting and prayer session to enable the party witness a successful programme.
According to Stephen Ntim, it is important for the party to seek divine protection before, during and after the conference that will be held at Tamale Sports Stadium to elect new national executives.
His call comes after an aspiring General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, was involved in a near fatal accident on the Accra-Nsawam road.
Mr. Agyepong is said to be responding to treatment but the cameraman, who is part of the campaign team, is said to be in critical condition at the 37 Military Hospital.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Steve Ntim underscored the need for the NPP to make prayer its guide throughout the conference.
He noted that the risk involved in traveling from Accra to Tamale is enormous and therefore, the party must call on God for protection.
"Party members would be traveling from different parts of the country to Tamale and their safety must be the topmost priority so i believe fasting and prayers is the answer", he insisted.
The aspiring National Chairman said Kwabena Agyepong's accident could have happened to any of the aspirants if not by the grace of God.
Steve Ntim called on all party members and sympathizers to join him to fast and pray for God to be “our companion and protector”.
“I’m calling on likeminded people to join me to fast and pray before April 12 to ensure an accident-free conference on Saturday, April 12, in Tamale".
