Some final year students of the Abesim Senior High School have commended the government for undertaking the nationwide fumigation and disinfection of all second cycle schools aimed at combating bed bugs and other insects.
The students expressed their appreciation when Zoomlion Ghana Limited deployed a team of sprayers to disinfest the Abesim SHS in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region.

A final year student Daniel Yakah lamented that the insect's infestation in dormitories has become one of the problems facing boarding students in many second cycle intuitions across the country.

Master Yaka thanked the Ghana Service for the exercise which he believes will help improve academic works in schools he there wants a government to put in place a detailed plan as part of measures to deal with the issue.

For another, Rose Animah, joy was all she could express as she could not sleep when she sees a bed bug.

She added that bugs' bite distracts students from serious academic work since affected students lose concentration during the school hours.
The headmaster for Abesim Senior High School urged the government "not to stop here because many of the students fall sick and if it affects their health, academic work definitely becomes a problem."
Government through the Ghana Education Service partnered with the waste management company Zoomlion Ghana Limited to disinfect all Senior Schools across the country to get rid of bed bugs, insects and reptiles in schools.

On Monday, May 11, 2020, Zoomlion Ghana Limited began the fumigation exercise in Bono Region where 400 sprayers were deployed in various schools.
The company has disinfected schools in Ashanti Region, Greater Accra, Central, Western and Western North regions.
