Some Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches in the Sunyani Municipality on Wednesday organized a peace prayer conference towards the success of the 2008 Elections.
The Churches included Living Grace Ministry, Temple of Praise Church, Bethel Prayer Ministry, International Central Gospel Church, Christ Apostolic Church and Christ Pentecostal International Church.
The three-day event that was under the theme, “Prince of Peace”, aimed at praying for God to intervene in the polls to make it incidence-free.
Pastor Richard Owusu-Achiaw, General Overseer of Living Grace Ministry, advised Ghanaians not to allow politics to divide them but to ensure peace and regard themselves as one people with a common destiny.
He urged religious leaders to preach peace and urged Ghanaians to refrain from acts that could disturb the country’s peace.
Pastor Owusu-Achiaw said “Ghana is considered a unique country and we must protect this reputation by proving to the whole world in the coming elections that we respect and understand democracy”.
He called on politicians to respect divergent views and collaborate to ensure peace and stability for national development.
Pastor Owusu-Achiaw said “If there is no peace, businesses, education and religious activities would be affected and the citizenry would face real hardships”.
He appealed to Ghanaians to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in December.
Pastor Owusu-Achiaw said “Whosoever will be elected as the President in the 2008 Election must be accepted and supported by other presidential candidates to move the nation forward”.
He announced that similar events would be organized in other communities in the Brong Ahafo region.
