The Narcotic Control Board and some top men of the Ghana Police Service have allegedly been compromising the activities of people dealing in narcotics in the Brong Ahafo region.
Narrating his ordeal on “EKOSII SEN”, ASEMPA FM’s current affairs programme on Monday, 19 year old Amos Takyi who is a resident of a village known as Avu, also known as Jamaica Camp, near Badu in the Brong Ahafo Region, has revealed that an 80 acre farm in the area is being used by three Jamaicans namely Victor, Aziz and one other man for cultivation of Indian hemp, which they have popularly termed as “sconch”.
Amos further disclosed that the syndicates have about 70 workers on the farm and large machinery which is used to process the Indian hemp. Their activity spanning over six has allegedly been a haven for narcotic dealers who export the Indian hemp to foreign countries.
Mr. Amos further disclosed that he had earlier reported the case to the Wenchi Police on the 14th April this year and collaborated with them to undertake an operation and swooped on the farm seizing $75,000 and some of their production machines.
He further disclosed that, he suspected foul play when the three workers arrested on the farm were released based on an alleged bribe of GH¢ 150,000 given to the police. He claimed he was informed by the police that the suspects would be arraigned before court on the 15th May 2009 but that never happened.
Amos out of desperation, has therefore unveiled the information hoping that the necessary authorities of the Narcotic Control Board will be fully investigated on this issue.
