Indigenous mobile-phone dealer, TECHNO plans to set up an assembling plant in the country by a year’s time. The firm says the funds for this would be sourced locally.
TECHNO currently has about 35 to 40 per cent handset market share in Ghana. Retail Manager for TECHNO, Anas Sarkar tells Joy Business the move should help significantly reduce the prices of their phones.
“We want to assemble the handsets here and create mass production and create accessibility for Ghanaians. We are trying to maximize our return on investment and plough back our profits to do this” he noted.
He spoke to Joy Business after TECHNO was adjudged phone of the year at the Second Ghana Telecom Awards organized by Mobile World over the weekend.
Vodafone maintained the Telecom Brand of the Year award whilst MTN won the Telecom Operator of the Year while CEO for Vodafone Kyle Whitehill won the prestigious Telcos CEO of the year.
Mr Whitehill told Joy Business a year of hard work and innovation has brought them gains.
“We have made our brands one of the most powerful brands in Ghana so its become a brand every Ghanaian is proud to be associated with. We have also made sure that everything we do is about delivering the best customer service experience that’s whether you come into my store or talk to one of my staff members” he noted.
