An 18-year-old storekeeper was on Wednesday jailed seven years in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for stealing computers and accessories valued at GH¢1,936.00, belonging to his employer.
Desmond Pepprah has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Police Inspector Martin Assenso told the Court, presided over by Mr Justice William Boampong, that the complainant, Godwin Awogah, deals in computers at Abusuakruwa in Kumasi and has engaged the convict as storekeeper.
In August this year, the complainant detected the theft of three of his desk-top computers, tower central processing unit (CPU), eight web cameras, mouse, headphones and three lap top bags. Mr Avogah therefore made a formal report to the police and Pepprah was subsequently arrested.
In his caution statement, Pepprah admitted the offence but said he stole only three flat screens and equal number of CPUs. These items, the prosecution said, were later retrieved by the police.
