As part of measures to facilitate the effective rollout of the 24-hour port operations policy, the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, has led an inspection tour of critical road rehabilitation works within the Port of Tema enclave.
The tour, conducted on Monday, 7 July 2025, focused on three key corridors undergoing reconstruction: the Mankoadze Roundabout to Harbour Roundabout road, the Harbour Roundabout to GHACEM road, and the access road linking Terminal 3 to Terminal 2.
The Harbour Roundabout to GHACEM stretch, vital for heavy-duty trucks and cargo hauliers is undergoing major upgrades to enhance traffic flow, safety, and the efficient movement of cargo within the port.

A key highlight of the inspection was the strategic Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 access road. Once completed, the road will provide a direct link between the two terminals, significantly reducing transit time and streamlining container transfer operations. The development aligns closely with the broader goal of increasing operational efficiency under the 24-hour port agenda.
Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono also visited the breakwater construction site at Terminal 2 and expressed satisfaction with the progress of work. He urged the contractors to stay committed and ensure the timely delivery of all ongoing projects.

“These infrastructure projects are not just about roadwork. They are critical enablers of our broader 24-hour operational vision, which seeks to enhance accessibility, reduce congestion, and deliver a seamless experience for port users,” the Director-General stated.
The road improvement works form part of a comprehensive infrastructure modernisation plan aimed at decongesting the Port of Tema, boosting port efficiency, and consolidating Ghana’s role as a leading maritime hub in the West African sub-region.
