Members of the Tema District Council of Labour (TDCL) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) have embarked on a demonstration to protest the sale of Bank of Ghana’s 48% shares in the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).
The demonstration was intended to mobilize support among workers and farmers in support of the TUC’s resistance against government’s intension to sell its shares in ADB to Stanbic Bank.
The Chairman of the TDCL, Mr. Wilson Agana said it is important that their concerns are looked at in the interest of Ghanaian workers.
The demonstrators presented a petition to Nana Akomea, Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment. He promised to present it to Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday September 13, 2007.
