The Teachers and Education Workers Union (TEWU) are also threatening to go strike on Monday. The union says it has been sidelined in the ongoing salary negotiations with teachers.Their latest threat comes days after the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) threatened to go on strike on Monday to drum home their demand for payment of arrears under the pay policy, Single Spine Salary Structure.Peter Lumor, President of TEWU told Joy News their decision to embark on strike is as a result of the feet dragging by the Wages and Salary Commission despite several reminders by the Labour Commission. He said the only language the government and other stakeholders understands is strike so they will embark on strike on Monday.Meanwhile, government is expected to meet teachers, Sunday in an attempt to reach a compromise before the day for intended strike. It is also expected to issue a white paper on retention premiums for teachers very soon. This was disclosed by the Finance Minister on the floor of Parliament.
