The MP for Lower Manya, Michael Teye Nyaunu has admitted he goofed with his statement that former President Rawlings wanted the exit of Johnson Aseidu Nketia as General Secretary of the NDC as a condition for resolving the bitter relationship issues between him and Mills.A delegation of chiefs and other traditional rulers from the Volta Region under the umbrella of Royals for Peace and Development early this week met with former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings in an attempt to establish the root cause of the strained relations between them and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress.As a fallout from the meeting, the Lower Manya MP told some media houses that among the key demands of the former president before his reconciliation with President Mills is the resignation of the NDC General Secretary who is said to have made derogatory remarks about the ex-President.Also, the former president is said to have demanded that the judgment debt awarded to Alfred Agbesi Woyome is refunded in full among others before he (Rawlings) will consider joining the party on the campaign platform.However, the office of the former President Thursday issued a statement denying the claims being attributed to the former president by the Lower Manya MP, Michael Teye Nyaunu.In the light of this new development, the MP has admitted that his earlier claims emanated from a private discussions he had with other persons relating to the resignation of Mr Asiedu Nketia and which he inadvertently attributed to Mr Rawlings.He apologized for the goof and insisted that this would not cause a strain in his relationship with the former President.
