Campaign coordinator for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu has stated that he has no plans of leaving the NDC.Hon. Nyaunu led the campaign which earned Nana Konadu just 90 out of nearly 3000 votes cast in the just-ended presidential primaries of the ruling party. In an interview with Joy News, he confirmed that Nana Konadu’s campaign team feels the voting was neither free nor fair. He however indicated “we are not doubting that we lost. That is the decision of the congress and I am bound by that decision of the congress, I will abide [by it].”Teye Nyaunu maintained that delegates were intimidated and some of them were promised GHS1,000 each if they were able to capture their votes with their camera phones. He further alleged that the delegates were intimidated with CCTV cameras to coerce them to vote for President Mills.“Let’s admit, our delegates have been so impoverished and they have become so vulnerable to the extent that if I have been looking for ten thousand Ghana cedis and I couldn’t get it, and yet by the act of my thumb, you are going to give me one thousand or two thousand, why not.”Meanwhile, after winning the mandate again to lead the NDC into next year’s elections, President Mills is back at the office attending to what his spokesman, Koku Anyidoho describes as the bigger challenge of winning a second term in office.Speaking to Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson, Anyidoho said the 2012 elections will be about the tangible achievements of the government. He said the president accepts that even though a lot has been done already in terms of development, a lot more needs to be done to ensure that the party retains power.Mr. Anyidoho believes the president still has enough time to appeal to those who are not exactly happy about his governance style.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
