A member of the Appointments Committee of Parliament has called the bluff of the minority members who have threatened to boycott the vetting of ministers nominated by President John Mahama.
Haruna Iddrissu who is also Minister designate for Trade and Industry accused the minority of abdicating their responsibility to the people of Ghana, adding, the wheels of government will run effectively with or without the NPP.
The NPP says it will not be part of the vetting of the Minister designates set to begin tomorrow because it is challenging the legitimacy of president John Mahama who nominated them.
To be part of the vetting is to acquiesce to the decision by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, the NPP members argue. But Haruna Iddrisu disagrees.
He told Joy FM, the decision by the NPP is highly unpatriotic.
He said the majority members of the Committee will do its best to exercise its oversight responsibility over the nominees.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the appointments committee Alfred Agbesie says the minority is yet to formally notify the committee of its intention to boycott proceeding.
According to him, the minority members of the committee were part of meeting held, Wednesday morning to plan the activities of the committee.
He could therefore not say if the Minority will be part of the vetting tomorrow.
