Thiago Motta has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain by a further year, keeping him with the French Ligue 1 leaders until June 2016.
The Italian international’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the news on their Twitter account on Friday.
Thiago Motta has been excellent in the PSG midfield this season, playing in 22 Ligue 1 games and all 7 of the club’s UEFA Champions League matches this season.
The 31-year old originally started his career with Barcelona where he was part of the first team for six seasons. A brief spell at both Atlético Madrid and Genoa was followed by a three-year stay at Internazionale.
PSG signed Thiago Motta from the Italian side in January for a free believed to be around €10 million.
He was won the league in all three European countries he has played in, as well as the Champions League with both Barcelona and Internazionale. Motta was part of the Italian side that lost 4-0 to Spain in the final of Euro 2012 but lasted just 5 minutes on the pitch after coming on as a substitute when he went off with a hamstring injury that reduced the Italians to 10 men for the final 30 minutes.
