Summer may well be coming to an end (sorry to break it to you, but it never really got off the ground this year did it?), but the print so often associated with the warmer season - you know the one, often splashed across picnic blankets or primary school summer dresses - is coming with us as we transition into autumn.
No, we're not talking florals - but HELLO we want to go to *that* school - but rather gingham checks.
A totally transeasonal print, the sixties-classic is actually the perfect look to get on board with right now as we begin to straddle this awkward in-between period where summer clothes feel a little presumptuous and optimistic (Storm Francis, we're looking at you), but even the thought of a cosy knit brings us out in a hot rash.
No, instead of looking to pinpoint which 'season' you're in right now when you get dressed in the morning, instead consider this influencer-approved print as a vehicle to transport you seamlessly through the middle ground.
Does a black midi dress feel too aesthetically 'heavy' right now considering we're still in August? Opt for a black and white gingham one. The traditionally summery print will give it a fresher feel without the chill of a mini dress.
Jetting off for a few days in the sun come September? A gingham bikini in a deep hue will feel holiday-appropriate but less 'I-expect-37°C-and-nothing-less' than a stark white number.
And if you thought gingham sportswear, tote bags or playsuits were all strictly inhabitants of the 'summer wardrobe', we're here to prove otherwise. After all, who *actually* has different wardrobes for every season? There's nothing sustainable (or financially savvy!) about that.
