Three persons are assisting the Tamale Police over the death of a 7-month-old baby who died during a scuffle between two suspects.
Joy News Correspondent Martina Bugri explain the suspects, Rukayah Ibrahim, Abdul Razak Ibrahim and Latifah Ibrahim are assisting the Tamale Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) in investigations into the death of the baby.
She reported that Abdul Razak was carrying the baby when he involved Rukayah in a scuffle, and in the process the baby fell. However this did not stop them from continuing the fight until they were separated.
When they later turned attention to the baby, they realised he was dead.
Without reporting the matter to the Police, they went ahead to bury the baby.
But upon a tipoff, DOVVSU sought an inquest to exhume the body for autopsy and investigation.
The mother of the baby Latifa Ibrahim, was picked up by the Police for her role, and not reporting the matter to authorities.
Northern Regional Co-ordinator of DOVVSU, Emmanuel Horlatsu, said investigations is ongoing to get to the bottom of the matter.
