THE Tema Municipal Assembly has inaugurated a 28-member Advisory Council to oversee the programmes for the country’s 50 Independence anniversary in the Tema Municipality.
Members of the council are drawn from both public and private sectors, with Mr Kwabena Benyarko, a Business Consultant, as chairman.
The Council, which has three divisions — fund raising and publicity, infrastructure and entertainment and mobili-sation, will among other things mobilise resources for specific projects to be implemented during the year-long celebration.
Inaugurating it, Mr David Q. Annang, Chief Executive of the TMA said: "Tema, being one of the magnificent creations of independence has to showcase itself as a leader whenever we discuss the developments after independence."
Mr Annan said it was in that direction that the TMAhas set up a planning committee to plan programmes befitting its local environment.
Mr Benyarko on behalf of the council, thanked the assembly for the opportunity given them and promised that they would do their best to make the celebration a historic event.
