Togbe Afede XIV has received the blessings of Togbi Kpodegbe Toyi Djigla, the King of the Allada Kingdom and the President of the Council of Chiefs of Benin, on the idea of establishing “African Traditional Leadership Union”.
As part of his visit to the West African Power Pool Secretariat in Cotonou, Benin, Togbe Afede XIV paid a courtesy call on Togbi Kpodegbe Toyi Djigla of the Allada Kingdom.
Their discussions focused largely on Chiefs bringing development to their people and making the impact of traditional leadership felt across all of Africa, especially in the areas of peace, unity and development.
Togbe expressed the belief that this is only possible when all the Chiefs and Kings of the Africa come together to form what he named African Traditional Leadership Union, to support the work of the African Union.
The message was well received by the King of the Allada Kingdom, who pledged to rally the support of the Benin Council of Chiefs for this agenda. Togbi Kpodegbe said the move is very timely, indicating that Africa would have seen a lot of development if the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s dream of Africa unity had materialized.
The King expressed his readiness to attend any forum on the formation of the “African Traditional Leadership Union “.
Togbe Afede XIV presented gifts, including Ghanaian traditional cloths, to the King of Allada, and was also honored with a golden scepter and a beautiful cloth depicting the symbols of the Allada Kingdom.
